Terms of use
The short version: Ruffolio is a personal dog organizer with an optional Community. Use it kindly and lawfully, keep your content respectful, and remember that Ruffolio provides no veterinary advice. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior: Ruffolio may remove such content and eject the users who post it.
1. Operator and scope
These terms govern your use of the Ruffolio iOS app and this website (together the "Service"), operated by:

Further provider details are available in the imprint. Your download of the app from the App Store is additionally subject to Apple's standard terms; where Apple's mandatory terms conflict with these terms, Apple's terms prevail for the App Store relationship.
2. Acceptance
By installing or using the app, or by joining the optional Community, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If the law where you live requires a minimum age or the permission of a parent or guardian to accept these terms or to use an online service, use the Service only when that requirement is met.
3. License to use the app
Ruffolio grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your private, non-commercial use, in accordance with these terms and the App Store rules. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse engineer or decompile the app except where the law expressly permits it, and you may not use the Service in a way that disrupts or overloads it or circumvents its safety and security measures.
4. Your content and conduct
You are responsible for the content you create or share through the Service, including Community posts, replies, photos, dog profiles, shared walks, route suggestions and danger reports. You must hold the necessary rights to everything you share, and you grant Ruffolio the non-exclusive right to store, display and technically process that content solely to operate the Service as described in the privacy policy.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. By using the Service you agree that there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. This includes, in particular, harassment, bullying, hate, threats, violence, sexual content, content that endangers minors, animal cruelty, illegal content, spam, deliberately false danger reports and the publication of other people's personal data. Ruffolio may remove or hide any content that violates these terms or the Community guidelines at any time and may restrict, suspend or eject (permanently exclude) users who post objectionable content or behave abusively. Please use the in-app reporting and blocking tools to flag such content; reports are reviewed and acted on promptly.
5. Community guidelines
Use of the optional Community and its public features is additionally governed by the Community guidelines, which form part of these terms. Where the app asks you to accept a current version of the guidelines, continued Community use requires that acceptance.
6. Account termination and deletion
You can stop using the app at any time and can delete your optional Community account and dog-sharing memberships directly in the app; the deletion effects are described in the privacy policy. Ruffolio may suspend or terminate your access to the Community or other online features, remove content, or eject you from the Service if you materially or repeatedly violate these terms or the Community guidelines, if required by law, or if necessary to protect other users or the Service. Where reasonable, Ruffolio will inform you of the reason. Local data on your device is not deleted by an account termination.
7. No veterinary or medical advice
Ruffolio is a personal organizer and community, not a medical device and not a veterinary service. Content in the Service — including reminders, predictions such as heat-cycle estimates, the Tick Finder, Community posts, podcast episodes and danger or water warnings — is no diagnosis and no substitute for professional veterinary advice, examination or treatment. Always consult a veterinarian for health concerns and contact local emergency services in an emergency.
8. GPS, maps and warnings
Walk recording, the Explore map, danger reports and warnings depend on GPS, device sensors and third-party data, which are inherently imprecise and may be unavailable, delayed or wrong. Recorded distances, routes, locations and nearby alerts are approximate. Danger reports come from other users and are not independently verified; weather and water warnings are prepared from third-party sources and may be incomplete or outdated. The Service provides no all-clear and no safety guarantee. Stay attentive to your actual surroundings and follow local rules and the instructions of the responsible authorities.
9. Availability and changes
The core dog organizer works locally on your device. Optional online features such as Community, dog sharing, danger reports and warnings are provided as available; Ruffolio may modify, limit or discontinue them, particularly for legal, security or technical reasons. Ruffolio will consider your reasonable interests when doing so.
10. Liability
Ruffolio is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. In cases of slight negligence, Ruffolio is liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability is excluded. This does not shift the burden of proof to your disadvantage.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence.
12. Changes to these terms
Ruffolio may update these terms when the Service, the legal situation or the providers used change. The current version is always available at this address; material changes to Community-relevant rules may additionally be presented in the app for review. If you continue to use the Service after an update takes effect, the updated terms apply.
